TARGETED PROCUREMENT = LOCAL JOBS AND SKILLS 12th November 2008

9.00am to 2.00pm (including lunch) at Clumber Park Hotel, Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire

Creating sustainable employment and raising skills levels are high priority for many public sector organisations. Making this happen must involve developing 'win win' partnerships with those organisations who are awarded contracts. This event, coordinated by the Alliance Employment & Skills Board, will provide information and live case studies designed to dispel some of the myths on linking public sector procurement to the creation of local jobs and raised skills levels.

There will be presentations and interactive practical discussions, with sessions including:

  • Richard Macfarlane, independent consultant and researcher, with wide experience of local authority best practice across the country to maximise the employment impact of regeneration;
  • ConstructionFutures/West Northamptonshire Development Company on work to link local training and employment opportunities to construction activities;
  • The employer perspective from SkyBlue Solutions (part of Carillion plc);
  • How local authority partners, including those working through the Alliance for Enterprise and Making the Connection, are supporting local people into jobs.

This event is aimed at strategic and operational staff from regeneration, commissioning and planning backgrounds. If there are colleagues within your organisation who you feel would benefit from this event, please forward this information.

Places are limited and will therefore be allocated on a first come first served basis. Please email hdowney.skillsboard@alliancessp.co.uk by 29th October to book your place and advise of any special access or dietary requirements. An email confirmation, including full programme and directions will follow your booking.
